oohhh... oooohhhh... i am feeling faint at the idea of númenor having deathbed companions somewhat in the style of elden ring. my númenor has a very deeply culturally entwined death cult. i did elaborate on it some in the past— but the thought of wishing to house the soul in a willing recipient, becoming pregnant with it in a figurative sense, only to give its life force back to one who is on the precipice of death is simply so enticing to me.

it would be an art that could never be, as mortal souls are bound to fade forever, though i like to think that there is a tradition of warming vaunted bones. in the hope of drawing them back to the realm of the living. an idea of rebirth given shape. the dead are not truly dead, their visage preserved beneath gauze and gold and gems. mourning family members would give themselves to the embrace of a deathbed companion, lending their warmth, which then will find the preserved bodies of beloved dead. a warmth to find them hopefully, in that distant place beyond the fabric of reality. as a dôlguzîr ( one who studies death ) , this is an art mordú too has practiced in his younger years, ruminating on the nature of the soul itself and its purpose as it flees the body.

Ever since Jamie Chadwick said those transphobic comments, I’ve always side eyed the fact that George is friends with her, and her partner.

No, I get that, and I completely understand how it can be unnerving in this climate to know exactly what to think of people you admire who hang out with people who publicly hold views that are irreconcilable with your own. His own gf has used her IG to openly laud some pretty transphobic people too and so it does irk and make you wonder.

All I can do though is judge off what I've seen him do in public, not what the worst case scenario is. George was Struan's flatmate and that's where their close friendship stems from. I can't believe I'm going to use the ignorance of privilege as a defence, but I doubt it's a subject they genuinely give much thought to as ultra privileged cis het white folks. He's not read her comments and gone "Ooh I want that person to be my friend!" I very much doubt it's something they've even discussed amongst themselves, because they have the privilege of remaining ignorant to it.

He's not the only driver with dodgy friends, they all do, and it's right to be wary, but I think you've got to try and give people the benefit of the doubt until they themselves actively SHOW you otherwise?
